Your Engagement Party

fund raising catering event
Congratulations on your engagement! Now is the time for you to plan your engagement party. To properly plan for your engagement party, it is important that we reflect on why we celebrate. This party is supposed to be the event that introduces the two families. We want to make sure that we are finding the right place and food that will make both families happy.

Tips for a great Engagement Party

Pick the right place –  When you are running down the short list of locations, find a place that is accessible. More than anything, people like feeling free so find a place that is easy to find and access.  For bonus easiness, make sure to include clear directions for everyone.

Gather the Guest List – When assembling your roster of attendees, it is especially important to sit the people who will mesh together. People with opposing views should be on opposing sides of the room.

Give your Invites Time – There is no easier way to guarantee a no-show than by sending out invites earlier than two weeks away. Guests often need to move around and plan for special events such as these. Make sure to give them at least a month to organize their affairs.

Figure out the Menu – This is where we shine. If you have booked with Catering By Eden, we will sit down with you and organize the menu. We also can offer some alternatives and variety pieces to make sure that your menu selection is like your event, unforgettable.

Delicious Décor – There are a million ways to organize furniture. But we always recommend complementing colors to represent the marriage. So try to find a theme that matches those colors to you. For example, red and gold are a regal and classy choice for many marriages.

Gifts and Duties – Before the party happens you should be working to set up a registry as well as planning a gift area. Find someplace subtle; you don’t want the gifts to be the center stage at your engagement party. When the engagement is underway, it is in good practice to assemble your friends and catering team and delegate the tasks to them. No one wants to see a future bride doing all the tasks for her party.

How to Dress/How to Act – When the day arrives you want to make sure that you are dressed appropriately. On that same note, you want to be able to take a deep breath. Yes, you need to look the part and be as lovely and charming as people expect you to be, but at the same time, it’s your party, and you need to be able to relax. Too many times have we seen beautiful engagement parties be slightly tainted by stressed-out couples. Take everything in stride and just remember that everyone is there to have fun and celebrate your engagement.
